About the Recipe

Traditional Italian cookie. Adjust cooking time to your likeness for how hard the cookies are. Often used as a dipping cookie in milk, coffee, or wine, This was mom's original recipe. This will make about 6 dozen cookies.

Ingredients

6 Eggs

6 cups Flour

6 tsp Baking powder

2 1/2 cubesButter, melted

1/2 cup Whiskey or Brandy

1 1/2 tbsp Almond extract

2 cupsSugar

2 1/2 cups Chopped walnuts or sliced almonds

1 Rind from lemon

1 tbsp Lemon extract

2 tbspAnise extract


********4 cubes Chocolate (semi sweet) if making all chocolate biscotti's

2 cubes for half chocolate


3 Eggs

3 cups Flour

3 tsp Baking powder

1 1/4 cubesButter, melted

1/4 cup Whiskey or Brandy

3/4 tbsp Almond extract

1 cupsSugar

1 1/4 cups Chopped walnuts or sliced almonds

1/2 Rind from lemon

1/2 tbsp Lemon extract

1 tbspAnise extract


********2 cubes Chocolate (semi sweet) if making all chocolate biscotti's

1 cubes for half chocolate

Preparation

Beat the eggs and add sugar and melted butter; mix, and add all of the dry ingredients.


Make small loaves, about 4 to 6 inches wide. Bake in 375 deg oven for 20 minutes (or until light brown in color).


Remove and cut in diagonal strips while warm and put back in oven to brown at 350deg.


For chocolate cookies, omit the anise(if you want) and add the unsweetened chocolate.
