Ingredients

  • 2 cups Finely chopped walnuts

  • 1 cup Firmly packed brown sugar

  • 3/4 cup Butter

  • 1 1/4 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation

Sprinkle 1 cup of the walnuts evenly in well buttered 9 inch square dish.


Combine sugar and butter in heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, to hard ball stage, about 266 degrees on a candy thermometer. (Do not go over 266 degrees, it will ruin and be inedible.)


Pour hot mixture evenly over walnuts in dish. Sprinkle chocolate chips over top. Sprinkle remaining 1 cup of walnuts over chocolate chips. Press mixture down firmly using a knife or metal spatula into hot mixture.


Let stand until firm, or chill till firm. Break into small pieces.
